Invested in EXPWAY

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President & CEO: Minoru Etoh) today announced its investment, through the investment fund it operates, in EXPWAY (headquartered in Paris, France; CEO: Thierry Sergent, hereinafter referred to as “EXPWAY”), which provides middleware designed for Wi-Fi multicast and LTE broadcast.

1.Overview of the investment

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc., through the investment fund it operates, completed the investment by joining the funding round for EXPWAY.

2.Background

EXPWAY develops and provides middleware designed for Wi-Fi multicast and LTE broadcast. The amount of traffic data on mobiles has been growing year by year, and video content has an increasing ratio among such traffic data.

The use of EXPWAY’s technology allows simultaneous distribution of the same content to multiple addresses in an area crowded with a great number of people, such as a stadium, at a lower cost than previously.

Since the above-mentioned EXPWAY’s initiative has a high affinity for NTT Group companies in the video and content distribution business, NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. expects it to contribute to this area.
