NTT DOCOMO Ventures Invests in BLOCKSMITH&Co., a Provider of Innovative Blockchain Games

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jun Yasumoto; hereinafter, “NDV”) is pleased to announce that, through a fund that it manages, it has invested in BLOCKSMITH&Co.(Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tetsuya Sanada ; hereinafter “BLOCKSMITH”), a company involved in blockchain games and web3 services.

BLOCKSMITH has developed and operated a number of blockchain games using blockchain technology and NFTs. In January 2023, it developed the blockchain game “Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- ” which it provided to the web3 game company Thirdverse, Co., Ltd. (currently Mint Town, Co., Ltd. ). In addition, an alpha version of “QAQA”, a vertical short video quiz app, was delivered in June 2023.
“QAQA” is a user submission-based quiz app in which users can participate even if they have no specialized knowledge of web3. Users can earn in-game currency by taking quizzes and answering them correctly, which can then be exchanged for the crypto asset “BLOS.”

The DOCOMO Group is advancing efforts to promote web3 and to hasten its implementation in society. The investment was made with an eye toward popularizing web3, in the hope of creating future business synergies between the DOCOMO Group and the company, which has a wealth of experience in blockchain-related development and operation.
