NTT DOCOMO Ventures Invests in OPENREC, Inc ., a Provider of Streaming Community Platforms

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jun Yasumoto) is pleased to announce that, through a fund that it manages, it has invested in OPENREC, Inc. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Akira Hyodo; hereinafter “OPENREC”), which provides experiences combining “OPENREC.tv,” a game commentary and live streaming platform, with in-person activities.

OPENREC.tv has a global user base. In addition to distributing its own original content, it is used by a wide variety of influencers, including pop stars, voice actors, and media talents, who hold live game commentaries and livestreams on a daily basis. OPENREC also has a full lineup of original content-related events, including about 100 in-house events per year. For the company’s “2nd Hyper Game Event ” in March 2024, there were approximately 40,000 in-person attendees, approximately 300,000 simultaneous live viewers, and a cumulative total of approximately 15 million viewers of archived footage of the event over the course of one week.
At present, the company is expanding the sale of original content merchandise based on its live streaming community, and by providing in-person experiences in addition to online experiences, it is aiming to further energize this community.

The NTT DOCOMO Group is working to develop its content and entertainment businesses, promoting fan marketing^* that makes use of intellectual property (IP). By forging closer ties with OPENREC, which has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the areas of original content and event organizing, it aims to create new value in the entertainment domain.
