NTT DOCOMO Ventures Invests in SOXAI Inc ., Developer of Japan’s First Smart Ring Capable of Health Management

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jun Yasumoto; hereinafter, “NDV”) is pleased to announce that, through a fund that it manages, it has invested in SOXAI Inc. (Head Office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa; President and Representative Director: Tatsuhiko Watanabe; hereinafter “SOXAI”), a company engaged in the development and provision of Japan’s first smart ring capable of measuring and analyzing health data.

SOXAI RING, a smart ring for health management provided by SOXAI, is the world’s smallest*1 with a width of 7.6mm, thickness of 2.5mm, and weighing approximately 3g. It is equipped with an optical vital signs sensor, a temperature sensor, and an acceleration sensor to measure the user’s quality of sleep, activity levels, such as calories burned, heart rate variability, and other aspects of physical performance.
Wearing the device on the finger, which produces a stronger pulse wave signal than the wrist, allows for more accurate measurements, and the battery, which lasts up to 8 days*2 and is waterproof, allows for the acquisition of health data throughout the day in all daily life situations.
SOXAI aims to improve the quality of sleep and promote early detection of diseases by providing continuous and highly accurate measurement and analysis of biometric signals*3.

The NTT DOCOMO Group provides “d Healthcare” and other health care services, and in February 2024, the NTT DOCOMO Group acted to strengthen collaboration among its various services by making minacolor, inc., which operates an online pharmacy business, a wholly owned subsidiary.
With this investment, NTT DOCOMO Ventures aims to create future business synergies in the healthcare field by deepening cooperation between SOXAI, a Japanese company that can measure and analyze health data with high levels of accuracy, and the NTT DOCOMO Group.
