NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. Launches DOCOMO Innovation Fund II, L.P., a Corporate Venture Investment Fund —To strengthen the cooperation with venture companies on a continual basis, aiming to achieve the “Declaration beyond” Medium-Term Strategy—

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “NDV”) decided on Thursday, July 27, 2017 that, with NTT DOCOMO, INC. (hereinafter referred to as “DOCOMO”) and NTT FINANCE CORPORATION, it would launch the DOCOMO Innovation Fund II, L.P. (hereinafter referred to as the “DI2 Fund”)—worth 15 billion yen in total assets under management. The purpose of this launch is to strengthen the cooperation with venture companies that have promising services and technology.

NDV has been engaged in supporting venture companies through the DOCOMO Innovation Fund Partnership (hereinafter referred to as the “DI Fund”), worth 10 billion yen in total assets under management and established in February 2013.
To achieve the Medium-Term Strategy 2020 “Declaration beyond,” which was developed by DOCOMO in April 2017, the DI2 Fund—the establishment of which has just been decided—will support venture companies possessing innovative technology and totally new business models in a wide range of areas—spanning AI, IoT, FinTech, AR and VR, and drones—from an early stage. The DI2 Fund will also strengthen the cooperation with the venture companies.

The DI2 Fund will be launched in September 2017 and managed by NDV just in the same way as the DI Fund.

With an eye on 2020 and beyond, NDV will continue to create new values in cooperation with its business partners through its initiatives including the investment in venture companies.
