NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc.
NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO, Takayuki Inagawa) has, through its fund, invested in Cyber Security Cloud, Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO, Hikaru Ohno; hereinafter referred to as “Cyber Security Cloud”), a company that provides cloud-type web security services.
1. Outline of the investment
NTT DOCOMO Ventures, through a fund it manages, has acquired the stocks of Cyber Security Cloud by effecting a transfer from existing shareholders.
2. Background of the investment
Workplace cyber security can be divided into “intranet security” for PCs and in-house networks and “internet security” for websites and web servers. Currently, internet security damage has become a major social problem. Corporations are often attacked via hacks or unauthorized access to their corporate websites or their service sites as well as through malicious manipulation. When such intrusions occur, companies may suffer damages such as lost sales opportunities, damaged brand image, accident response costs, and declining stock prices. Due to such circumstances, many corporations are deploying Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to secure web applications against vulnerabilities. The market size of cloud-type WAF has accrued year over year growth of more than 160% since 2015.
Kougeki Shadankun, a cloud-type web security service provided by Cyber Security Cloud, visualizes and intercepts cyber-attacks against websites, and has been adopted by various organizations, from governments to financial institutions, large corporations, and venture companies, regardless of their industry and size.
In combination with its technologies and services, NTT Group will use its rich experience and expertise in the domain to endeavor to create optimized solutions for the clients.
