Investment in Fyusion, Inc.

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshiki Nakayama) through its fund, has invested in Fyusion, Inc. (head office: San Francisco, USA; CEO: Radu B. Rusu; hereinafter referred to as “Fyusion”), which provides additional values of images using their 3D computer vision and machine learning expertise.

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc., through its investment fund, joined the investment round of Fyusion and has invested in the company.

– Background of the investment
Fyusion is a pioneer in developing technology that recognizes the physical world surrounding us as photographic images on a real-time basis. The company’s technology enables image recognition using the camera on Android™ and iOS devices. The recognized images are converted into fun, interactive 3D images called “fyuses”. The company has obtained more than 50 patents with this 3D image-recognition technology.

By using AI, the company’s 3D technology can recognize figures, objects, and scenery in photographic images. The Fyuse consumer application is already provided on Android and iOS platforms, enabling people to enjoy interactive photography in the form of “fyuse.”

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. has high expectations for such technology developed by Fyusion as something that would contribute to the various business projects created by the commerce sections of the NTT Group and DOCOMO Group.
